On our little trek up to the "Please Don't Shoot" water tank on Catalina Island, we discovered a very bizarre and disturbing thing. All around the water tank we had been finding bits and pieces of what we assumed was a deer - a leg bone here, a shoulder blade there. And then, while answering nature's call, I happened upon it. Something had made a pile of seven very dead deer off in a small cluster of low-lying trees. They'd been there maybe a week or two - the meat having been stripped of their bones and some of the carcasses dragged a short distance from the main pile. Chilling...

None of the bodies were touched in the making of these images.
