On the way back down from Santa Cruz the day after getting completely drenched while attempting to shoot a bunch of stuff with wild elephant seals, I decided on a whim to make a short detour into Moss Landing, a small town nestled around a large marina occupied by private boats and fishing vessels. Right near the main road into the marina, I happened to look over to my right and saw two sea otters just hanging out. First time I think I've ever seen sea otters in the wild... and really close! These guys initially were maybe 50 or 60 feet away, but over the hour or so I hung out watching them, they got as close as around 15 feet. As I've mentioned before... I'm not a wildlife photographer, but it was an absolute blast being able to spend time with these two guys. Definitely beats going to the aquarium.
